ALICE 2024 - CAST RESOURCES

Our 10th Anniversary Production of Alice will be performed at Bedford Middle School on Sunday, May 19th at 1pm & 5pm!

All dancers enrolled in our program and who are in Grade 1 or above are eligible for the show. And all dancers who audition will be part of the show! Note that particularly for our younger dancers, the auditions are merely a formality — all dancers will be cast right along with their age group.

COSTUME REQUIREMENTS

Handy links for Alice costumes:

Lipstick - Maybelline Superstay Vinyl in Wicked: this is the preferred shade for all performances and it doesn’t smudge once applied, It’s also available at Ulta and most drugstores

Black shorts (Haterettes)

Black jazz pants (Dum/Dee Clones, Cheshire Kittens, Question Marks, Cards)

Black sports bra (Dum/Dee Clones)

PARTICIPATION FEE

  • There is a $475 participation fee per dancer

    • For families with more than one dancer participating in the show, there will be a sibling discount - each family's additional dancer's participation fee will be $435

    • The online sign-up must be completed prior to auditions on Saturday, January 20th for your dancer to be cast in the show

  • Payment must be received by your dancer's audition day (Saturday, January 20th)

  • Your dancer can bring a check (written out to Westport’s Academy of Dance) to the audition or your credit card on file will be charged at the end of the audition day. Please put your check in a sealed envelope with your dancer's full name and grade on the outside of the envelope

    • If paying by check: siblings must bring separate envelopes with separate forms of payment, each labeled with name and grade

    • Credit card transactions will be subject to the 3.5% processing fee

Registration Details for Parents with Dancers in Grades 1, 2 or 3, or Parents with a Dancer New to the Production:

In order to sign your dancer up, please complete the following three steps:

1. Sign your dancer up for Alice Participation Online

  • This online sign-up must be completed prior to auditions on Saturday, January 20th for your dancer to be cast in the show

2. Attend a mandatory parent meeting on Saturday, January 20th

  • One Parent from each family must attend one of these scheduled meeting times - 10:00am OR 11:00am on Saturday, January 20th

  • There is a lot of important information regarding the production and volunteer commitment from the parents that will be explained, so again, it is mandatory that any new parent or parent of a dancer in Grades 1 - 3 attend

  • If your dancer is returning to the show and he/she is in Grade 3 or below - parent attendance at one of these meeting sessions is still required

3. After the parent meeting, complete the Online Parent Survey

Registration Details For all Parents with Returning Dancers in Grade 4 and Above who are NOT new to the production:

There are two steps necessary in order to sign your dancer up, both need to be completed by Friday, January 19th at 6:00pm:

1. Sign your dancer up for Alice Participation Online

  • This online sign-up must be completed prior to auditions on Saturday, January 20th for your dancer to be cast in the show

2. Please complete the Online Parent Survey

  • Please read all carefully as there are changes from previous years

REHEARSAL INFORMATION

Rehearsals for the show will take place on weekends during the following time slots:

• Grades 1 thru 4: Saturdays between 9:00am - 4:00pm

• Grades 5 and up: Saturdays between 9:00am - 5:00pm & Sundays between 12:30pm - 5:30pm

Note: these times are only windows of times we ask that parents leave open for rehearsals - dancers will not be called for five hours! Rehearsals are announced each Tuesday morning for the upcoming weekend, and your dancer might be called for one hour one week, not called the next, etc. We will also do our best to work around conflicts such as soccer, etc.

  • Act 1 Run thru - Saturday, May 4th (5th grade and above only) specific times TBD **

    **(grades 4 and below will still be called to rehearse Saturday before run thru)

  • Act 2 Run thru - Sunday, May 5th (5th grade and above only) specific times TBD

  • In-Studio Dress Rehearsal - Full Cast - Saturday, May, 11th (specific times TBD)

  • Tech rehearsal on Friday, May 17th (for grade 5 and above only) - Bedford Middle School

  • Mandatory Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, May 18th - Bedford Middle School

  • Performances are Sunday, May 19th at 1pm & 5pm - Bedford Middle School
