dance on camera
Our very ambitious David Fernandez is at it again with his innovative approach to dance on camera. With Ballet Films, a collaboration between David and NYC digital production studio visualmerc, the intention is to provide access to classical ballet works and contemporary dance pieces performed by today's most talented dancers using a creative approach specifically for the lens. Future works will include behind-the-scenes moments and interviews with performers, choreographers, film professionals and notable enthusiasts.Currently the crew is working on "White Shirt, Black Tie, Black Pants-XXS", original choreography by David Fernandez adapted for students between the ages of 9 and 12 from The Joffrey Ballet School, The Scarsdale Ballet Studio, Dance Theatre of Harlem School and Westport's Academy of Dance. This is a true collaborative approach where dancers from each of these schools were chosen to meet and work together for the first time bringing this project to life. The film will be submitted to Lincoln Center Dance on Camera 2012 in a documentary format and will feature rehearsals, interviews with the dancers, teachers, directors and parents, as well as the full choreography as performed at Mark Morris Studios in NYC.Previous Ballet Films previous works include: "White Shirt Black Tie Black Pants" with ABT's Luciana Paris, Georgia St. Onge Lathrop and our ownNathalie Lambert Palicios. "Le Corsair" with New York City Principal Dancers Joaquin de Luz and Ana Sophia Scheller, and “Choreography for 2 Legs” featuring Caitlin Gilliland, New York City Ballet.Support this effort, join the crew on Facebook and follow us for the latest behind the scenes news and happenings!
