caitlin roberts and connecticut's own velocity dance company will be debuting their newest piece, obscura, directed by lauri maclean this saturday march 12th: 305 k gallery in bridgeport at 4pm (suggested donation $5).velocity both ignites and pays homage to the indigenous american art form of jazz dance, using powerful lines, vibrant energy and explosive movement.  with diverse choreography that explores a unique vision, velocity strives to engage, captivate and inspire audiences while bringing increased public awareness to this extraordinary style of dance.  artistic director lauri maclean's latest work, "obscura," premiering this month, evokes subtle shades of reality’s underside with nocturnal imaginings that transcend the ordinary and color the stage with intriguing choreography evolving from a fascination with the obscure.velocity has also been invited to perform at the ailey studios for the jtld choreographers showcase on march 26th, 8pm, at ailey studios (405 w. 55th street, ny). seating is limited and tickets are $15. click here to purchase.
